Psychology Through an Undergrad’s Lens: Why I Made This Blog

Hi there! I am so beyond excited to be writing this and to even have this space to be able to share my thoughts!! Thank you so much for being here with me! I love reading myself and I hope you can find relatability or solace in my words. I’m grateful for the opportunity to grow and nourish our best selves together!!

As a little bit about me, I am a college student (and often make that my whole personality), in my second year of undergrad studying psychology in California! I have been passionate about psychology, mental health, and related fields for as long as I can remember. I’ve always gravitated towards integrating logic and emotion in understanding human behavior and the mind. I also developed anxiety at a young age, and as a child, I felt implored to try to understand myself and the thoughts that I was having a bit better. Doing research on my thoughts at the time helped me conclude that it might benefit me to talk to somebody about what I was feeling. I have since been able to overcome my anxiety thanks to therapy, for which I am a huge advocate! However, my interest in mental health conditions has been unwavering despite my healing. I have always felt passionate about helping others help themselves, and I believe wholeheartedly that knowledge is power when it comes to understanding yourself and those around you. Knowing the symptoms of depression may help you understand that your friend isn’t randomly ghosting you or icing you out—they may just be struggling internally and find it difficult to verbalize it. Or, knowing the different kinds of personality disorders may make you realize “that one person” that you get irritated with because they are unable to understand friendship boundaries may be dealing with a condition rendering them incapable of doing so (with exceptions of course).

Essentially, my goal with this blog is not to claim I am a professional in this field by any means. I do not, and probably won’t for the foreseeable future, have all the knowledge there is to know in psychology and these disciplines. I do, however, have the perspective of a 20-year-old college student, and would love to cater to an audience similar to my age group to cover shared experiences and topics that may apply to us.

To give an idea of the topics you’ll be reading about in the future, I would like to discuss the intersection of college burnout with psychology, how caffeine affects the brain, effective study habits for students backed by topics in cognitive psychology, attachment styles in friendships, and more! I will be using research conducted in the field to supplement my opinions and thoughts on these matters.

On that note, I would love to hear from you, and let me know what you would like me to talk about!! I am open to suggestions!!

Again, thank you so much for reading and giving me the opportunity to yap out my thoughts on this platform. So grateful for your support!!

Love Your Favorite Undergrad,
